thelonealbatross
Hello all, I am going to start my second project bass, and for the electronics, I was planning on using three pickups and active system, all Seymour Duncans. I was planning on using in the neck, a Quarter Pound Jazz neck pup, in the middle a Quarter Pound P pup, and in the bridge a Quarter Pound Jazz bridge pup, all connected to a Seymour Duncan 3 band active circuit for passive pups. First of all, I would like to know if I will be able to wire all three pups to the system. and if I can, would these three pups work together well sound wise? I have played a friends P-bass and he has the Q-ponud pup in it and I love the sound. I have another friend that has the Q-pound pups in his J-bass and I love the sound of them too, but I can't seem to get quite the right tone on either bass individually. I also played a bass at a music shop that had a J/P/J pup configuration and I loved what I could get out of it. Thank you, TLA
lovekraft
Probably the simplest way would be to wire each pickup to a separate volume control, and send the summed outputs to your EQ. That should give you the most flexibility in blending the pickups with the fewest potential wiring problems.
skibum5545
I concur. I don't know how you would do any sort of blend knobs, so three volumes will work fine. It also eliminates the need for switches. The EQ will take care of tone controls.
thelonealbatross
So I should give each pickup it's own volume control, and then run each of those volume controls all to the eq? Just trying to get it straight, thanks to all who posted. Thanks again, TLA
lovekraft
That should work fine - be sure to wire the volumes so they don't interact (with the pot shaft facing you, left lug to the EQ, middle to the pickup, right to ground).
