Fender S-1 Switch, How does it work?

We got an American Deluxe Series Stratocaster in the shop i work at and i found it kind of cool how fender have created a strat knob with a button to extend the sounds of the strat.

I know what it does because of these diagrams fender has posted but i would really like to know exactly how the is done by only using one switch.

Instead of a 1 pole 5 way switch its a 4 or 5 pole 5 way switch. Its one of the those superstrat switches you can get at Stewmac, the button makes one side active the other side grounded out...

wondered what those delux strats where.

Wow much more complicated than I thought.

Surprised that fender would wire something that complicated. That probably a production nightmare....

I guess if i wanted to recreate the same idea on another strat i would have to get an S1 or could i do it with a push pull pot or a switch or something?

I might use only some of the things they have done, i dont know.

So how bout this S1 switch. Is it posible to get one? is there another way?
