Material finish help needed.

Recommended Posts

Ive read the tutorial in the project section, but still have a question.

Is the material stuck to raw wood, or is the body sealed first?

A local guitar tech is re fretting my neck for me and he said that all the material finishes they do involve sealing the body with 2 pac enamel (auto finish) then laying a perfectly cut material piece onto a wet coat. Then they apply futher coats of clear and roll out any air bubbles with a roller. Exactly the same way that you would lay fibreglass with resin.

He says this was, ther is no way that the material can de-laminate from the body.

He also admitted that there are dozens of ways it can be done but they find this the most successfulway.

Has anyone tried this way?
