bumpy_roads Posted October 10, 2004 Report Posted October 10, 2004 I just lowered the strings on a Greg Bennett Torino giving it a much needed lighter action. The tone and amplification was softened more than expected. I have not adjusted the pickup heights and have no guide lines for doing so. Any suggestions? Quote
shakyhands Posted October 11, 2004 Report Posted October 11, 2004 Just my 2 cents worth. My brother had same problem. Try lowering the pickup to about the same measurement as the level the strings came down. You may have to do a bit of playing around to get it right. If the strings are too close to the pole pieces, you actually reduce the amount of vibration in the string, thus volume and tone levels suffer. My brother had the same problem and just taking the pickup down slightly made a great difference to the volume level. I'm no expert (Yet ) Hope this helps. Quote
bumpy_roads Posted October 11, 2004 Author Report Posted October 11, 2004 shakyhands, Thanks for your feedback! I'll try adjusting heights till I get the right sound. Quote
shakyhands Posted October 11, 2004 Report Posted October 11, 2004 Hope it works for you. It should. If all you did was lower the strings and havent touched the electronics, lowering the pickups should solve the problem. Quote
