what i want to do is wire from the pickup straight

to the output jack, now I've tried tapping the pickup with a screw driver and it sounds on the amp, BUT i dunno if there is omething i can do to IMPROVE the sound, not saying its bad or anything but is there anything i should be doing different? pic:

Try it, you might like it - if it's too bright, you can always wire an 1/8watt 500K resistor across the jack to mellow out the high end.
