Ax-Fx
hey My brother recently gave me a fender that needed a bit of TLC. I have sorted mmost of the problems out apart from the frets. Some of the are poping out at the edges. This is annoying because the top string gets stuck underneath it and also stops you playing some of the higher frets. Ive tried hammering the frets back in, but they just come out again. I also made a piece of wood shaped like the fret and used super glue and a clamp to try glue it on, but after 2 hours it just popped out again! I suppose the next step is areldite. That should work. I could take it to a shop but it would cost alot to have it refreted and im a bit short at the moment! Any suggestions from you guys? Thanks Alex
rhoads56
Keep trying things that will make it a more costly repair for you in the long run.
Southpa
Pull out the problem frets and bend them a little bit more than the curvature of the fretboard. If the slots are too big for the fret tangs you can glue and clamp. You might have to do a bit of levelling and dressing afterwards.
