Paint Types

I'm just curious about acceptable types of paints that can be used on a guitar... things such as:

Are there any paints that shouldn't be used?

What are the most common paints used?

Has anyone ever hand-brushed a guitar as opposed to air brushing?

Is hand-brushing a guitar frowned upon?

Don't know if it's frowned upon or not but I'm gonna be doin' it real soon now!

I think it boils down to being willing to do a lot of sanding between coats or every few coats.

I'll be using waterbased clear over dyed quilted maple and stained mahogany.

The search feature here actually does work :D

Here is a bunch of info on paints you can use with spraying, many can be brushed as well, but spraying yields great results with a little less effort.

Thanks for the link, I had already read through all the tutorials. I just hadn't found a post (through search, or otherwise) that adequeatly answered my question in particular. I have a way that I paint that I could really only acheive through brush work and was just curious about whether it had been done before, if it's a worth attempting, and so on.

Sorry for any inconveniences.
