Drill Press 9" Vs 12"

Should I get a 12" Drill press vs a 9" ??

Hey if you can afford the 12" go for it, you'll never regret the extra capacity.

For very little more money, if you have the space get a floor model drill press, you'll love having the ability to put a full guitar in there lengthwise at some point

Keep in mind that the capacity of a drill press is half of it's rating. i.e. the chuck to column distance on a 9" drill press is only 4.5" and 6" for a 12" press. Most of the critical holes on a body are located closer to the center. So in my experience you need at least a 16" press to cover everything.

I purchased a 16" drill press, and was suprised at how many things I use it for. I had a small 9" that was used just for holes. The larger capacity and better table is very handy to have.
