Binding

Recommended Posts

I would cut out a hunk of cheap wood the size of your LP body first, and try it on that. The StewMac binding router thing will work fine, so long as you keep that bearing perpendicular to the point you're routing. Then its best to go back & measure the binding channel with calipers to make sure you've got it right, then the binding will glue in with either the binding cement or a little bit of acetone.

The LP doesn't have too many sharp curves, so its not too hard. When you get to the horn, soak some of the binding in hot water to soften it, dry it off quick, press it into the channel and hold it there while it cools. This will pre-shape the binding ready for gluing.
