stevenh Posted March 8, 2005 Report Posted March 8, 2005 I apologize if this is off topic, but I was wondering how I can either remove the black finish off of my Floyd Rose, OR to refinish the Floyd to it's original black finish. The Floyd Rose Pro that I acquired has some rust and wear, and I was thinking about removing all of the black finish to leave a chrome finish OR to retouch the worn areas and remove the rust. What is the best way to accomplish either procedure. Thanks for your help. Quote
marksound Posted March 8, 2005 Report Posted March 8, 2005 Powdercoating is good and tough (hotrodders and custom bike builders use it a lot) or you could try epoxy paint, like for appliances. Quote
jer7440 Posted March 9, 2005 Report Posted March 9, 2005 Powder coat will be a good durable finish. You will have to break the trem down into all of its pieces and then you will want to strip of the original coating and clean up the rust. One thing to watch out for with powdercoating is that it will fill up the threads in your screw holes. You should find some way to plug them or be ready to chase the threads out with the appropriate tap. Quote
