Gorecki Posted May 12, 2005 Report Posted May 12, 2005 (edited) Haven't seen anything on getting an 'aged' finish on a guitar. Any suggestions??? Dave ← Do a search on 'relic' and you should come up with some hits, also there are a couple tutorials off the home page. Now if you're referring to the finish itself, the closest you can come without actual age is to add a bit of tint to the clear coat to cause an antique effect. Edited May 12, 2005 by Gorecki Quote
donald k wilson Posted May 14, 2005 Report Posted May 14, 2005 There are lots of simple things you can do. Do you want the wood to look old? distressing, u.v. exposure (sunburn) before finishing, spotting, layering transparent stains and tinted finishes all work. If you want the finish itself to look old there are crackling and glazing techniques. Try a search at fine woodworking magazine, antique restorers do this stuff all day long. Good luck! dkw Quote
