bigdguitars
Anyone got one of these? I need to know what the switch is. I am doing a repair via email and its hard to figure out what is there... Thanks, Derek
JohnH
It depends on which 'signature' it is. Heres the link to the Giobson page with them: http://www.gibson.com/relations/schematics/ you can have Jimmy page, Joe Perry etc. I checked out the Jimmy Page one for a project. Get the pdf files, I found the gif one was too coarse to show all the wires John H
bigdguitars
This is an old LP sig from the 70's. I will post more info on it.
lovekraft
Is that the LP Signature semi-hollow with the Dirty Fingers low impedance pickups (ca. '73-'79)? If so, you might try PMing cherokee6 - he was working on restoring an old LP Recording, and had some info on that decade switch and the wiring. Here's a woefully incomplete wiring diagram - HTH. JohnH
I have the '71 LP Recording diagram in a book - could scan and post it if its like that. It would be a bit clearer than the diagram above.
lovekraft
I'd love to get a look at a good shcematic, if it's not too much trouble - Gibson always treated this series like stepchildren, but they were great guitars, just not marketed well and too far ahead of the times. JohnH
No problem Lovekraft. Here is the best scan I can get of a '71 Recording schematic: http://people.smartchat.net.au/~l_jhewitt/...lprecording.gif It has a switch for high/low impedance. Apparently the 'Signature' model from that time also had low impedance pups, with a separate output jack for high impedance and you could use both at once. regards John
lovekraft
Thanks!! That's much better than anything I've seen - it pretty much explains the whole mythical "Decade switch" and the tone switching. I truly appreciate that!
