baze7 Posted July 24, 2005 Report Posted July 24, 2005 I need an opionion, should I spend more money on a bigger band saw, or a bigger drill press, I have neither at the moment. Thanks Quote
marksound Posted July 24, 2005 Report Posted July 24, 2005 Bigger than ... a breadbox? If you don't have either, what does 'bigger' mean? Quote
baze7 Posted July 24, 2005 Author Report Posted July 24, 2005 well like a 12" bandsaw vs a 14" band saw. A 12" Bench top Drill Press or a floor stand drill press, that is what I mean. Quote
marksound Posted July 24, 2005 Report Posted July 24, 2005 Oh. Well then, get the biggest you can afford. Good rule of thumb. If you don't believe me, ask Tim Taylor. Quote
unclej Posted July 24, 2005 Report Posted July 24, 2005 a bench top drill press is capable of doing most everything you need on a guitar. i have two 12" bandsaws..both retired and in my storage building. my 14" jet bandsaw is one of the best purchases i ever made for my woodshop. get the better bandsaw.. thegarehanman Posted July 24, 2005 Report Posted July 24, 2005 Agreed, I rarely ever use my drill press. I have a cordless drill that has 3 bubble levels built into it to make sure you are square with the surface you'r drilling into. I use that for darn near everything. Quote
Devon Headen Posted July 25, 2005 Report Posted July 25, 2005 I'd go for the bandsaw. I've only had a bandsaw for the past several months (in an otherwise very well equipped shop), and it's the most used tool now. Drill press is certainly a close second, but you don't NEED a huge drill press. Quote
