bassampegman Posted September 14, 2005 Report Posted September 14, 2005 I am working on a Simon & Patrick acoustic guitar and the underside of the neck has a small scuff mark down to the wood. Is there an easy way to make this good without a complete re-finish Im happy to put some laquer on after but i need to colour the mark first ?? Quote
Mattia Posted September 14, 2005 Report Posted September 14, 2005 Unless it's dirty, it probably won't need a stain. The finish should darken it up again. Honestly, I'd probably leave it alone unless it feels weird. There's plenty of info on finish touch-ups at Frets.com, probably in the forum archives, definitely in the MIMF Library, and books have been written about it. I have no clue what finish Simon and Patrick use on their necks, but my bet is it isn't nitro, so CA (superglue) fill may be the way to go. Painted in/on shellac or laquer may work, but probably won't burn in. Chances are you'll be able to see the refinish job. Quote
bassampegman Posted September 14, 2005 Author Report Posted September 14, 2005 The wood isnt damaged only the reddish wood stain is rubbed down to bare wood. Can i touch it up and blend it in ?? Quote
Mattia Posted September 14, 2005 Report Posted September 14, 2005 you sure it's stained? If it is, you can touch it up, and then finish over it. Head to Frets.com and read. Quote
