Pickguard Fitting

I am about to fit a pickguard black teardrop shape to a Takamine EG560C acoustic.

The pickguard comes with adhesive back, my question is any tips on fitting and can they be removed later without damaging the finish of the guitar

the type of pickguard that you're talking about should have an inside curve that will fit just to the outside of the soundhole rosette on the guitar. clean the area that you'll be applying it to with some windex or similar cleaner. after it's dried just peel the paper backing off and lay it down and smooth it out with your fingers wrapped in an old t shirt.

getting it off later can usually be accomplished by laying a couple of layers of the same t shirt over the pickguard and applying medium heat with a household iron until the adheasive softens. if there's any residue left it will come up easily with goof off.
