gcr108 Posted August 14, 2003 Report Posted August 14, 2003 here is the deal, I have this Univox 335 copy and I am putting Gibson 490's in it. But the Mounting rings that are on the guitar have an opening that is too wide and too short to fit the humbuckers. The cut-out in the guitar for the pickups is the shape of a P-90. I am wondering if I will be able to buy a pickup ring that will fit this pickup, or if I will have to get one custom made at a machine shop... any help would be incredible... Thanks Quote
Reaper Posted August 14, 2003 Report Posted August 14, 2003 pickup ring for a 490? Yes, they sell them. Quote
Brian Posted August 14, 2003 Report Posted August 14, 2003 Which direction is it to wide, and which direction is it to short? Quote
gcr108 Posted August 15, 2003 Author Report Posted August 15, 2003 so th pickup that was in the guitar was a p-90 size pickup. I have a 490 and I need a mounting ring that will cover the hole left by the p-90 mounting ring... I may make one out of wood, but i'm not positive on that right now, would that work? Thanks... Quote
Brian Posted August 15, 2003 Report Posted August 15, 2003 Yes that would work but I'm pretty sure they make rings that can handle this if you don't want to go through all of the trouble. Then again a wooden trim ring would look super classy Quote
