Matt22
i have just bought a $100 bass guitar, and it looks kinda lame, and i wanna spruce it up abit. could i sand off the existing paint, and paint some cool stuff on it, then put a clear finish on?.. would i have to use a diffrent kind of paint or finish?... how would i go about painting on my guitar? Brian
Hi Matt and welcome to the forum Of course you can, what you need to decide though is what type of paint your going to use for the graphic first. Then we can work out the details on the clearcoat.
Matt22
the type of paint i'll be using is "Acrylic Paint"
Brian
There are plenty of polyurethane acrylics that would cover that on the market without hurting your art work. The danger zone will be around the edge's of the body since most people (even professionals) tend to have a problem there with either sanding or buffing. Matt22
what kind of finish could i use with acrylic paint?
Brian
Spray gun or spray paint cans. It would probably be best to clean out the excess paint while doing the scene on a spare board like a 2x4 or something and use that as your test board for the clear.
