lotass Posted January 2, 2006 Report Posted January 2, 2006 Hey guys my buddy is appling lacquer to the body of his guitar (It's Jatoba wood he said) and the lacquer is bubbling. He said the instructions said to get this special type of brush to avoid bubbling, and he got it, but it still bubbles...I searched but didnt find what I was looking for, any tips? Quote
Nitefly SA Posted January 3, 2006 Report Posted January 3, 2006 could you decribe the bubbling? does it look like veins lifted off the body? Quote
Southpa Posted January 3, 2006 Report Posted January 3, 2006 (edited) Its either air bubbles from using those sponge applicators to quickly or internal bubbles from lacquer reacting to whats underneath. Too high temp can also be a factor where the surface cures faster than underneath, trapping gases inside. There is a bit of info to read if you searched for 'bubbling'.
