Hey guys

Im building a Les Paul and Ive just cut my guitars neck tenon and I dont know if I have made it too narrow

Im concerned it may break

The dimentions are width: 35mm, height: 30mm, length: 110mm

Check out the link

I have a set of 50's lp plans right here and the tenon for that is 30mmWx33mmHx76mmL. I used those dimensions on the all mahogany LP I built(which has no neck issues whatsoever). Based on that, I think you shouldn't have any trouble with that tenon, provided your wood isn't say...corrugated cardboard.

peace,

russ

Thanks Russ

Thats a load off my mind

Im using John Cattos template plans for my guitar and his tenon dimensions are slightly larger

When I get a little more done, Ill post some pictures of the build so far

Looks good to me....but John Catto would know better than I, so if you're using his plans to the letter then I think you're good to go.

Do his plans show that bevel at the end of the tenon?

Thanks

The bevel is there because I wanted to get 2 necks from my laminated neck boards

Which I did with not a lot of room to play with, and the bevel is a result

On Johns plans the tenon width is 40mm and Ive had to guestimate the rest
