cass
Hey all- New to the forum. I just picked up an Ibanez which has a satin cherry finish. Unfortuneatly, it has a couple of signifigant dings. Does anyone have a suggestion on the best way to fill/repair this problem. I've read a few posts other places where people have said they filled the dings in with a clear epoxy of glue. Any advice appreciated. Thanx in advance. Racer X
Drop fill with superglue, and accelerate the curing process by also getting a little pump spray bottle of accelerator, and spray it on the drop-filled spot. That way, you can level out, and polish the area, on the spot. I've done guitars like this, that have had more HOLES than clearcoat, and have had great results. cass
yo racer, thanx for the nfo. At the risk of sounding like a moron, what do you mean when you say accelerator? Is there a special brand or something that I should look for?
Setch
Accelerator is a catayst which causes CA to cure more or less instantly. One brand name is "Zip Kicker". I'd avoid it like the plague for finish repair, since it invariably causes white bubbles in drop fills.
Racer X
Odd. I never had any problems, like that. Only thing I get is a slight hazing effect, at the super glue, but that goes away, once you sand and polish.
