Matt Posted June 15, 2006 Report Posted June 15, 2006 Ive had a look around on the site, Is Bubinga usefull at all as body or neck wood(apart from laminates)? Thanks alot Matt Quote
Daniel Sorbera Posted June 15, 2006 Report Posted June 15, 2006 I used it as the top and headstock on my semi hollow and it sounds/looks awesome. Quote
Tundra_Man Posted June 15, 2006 Report Posted June 15, 2006 It's useful for about anything. I've even seen bubinga fingerboards. I've done a bubinga topped bass. It is a very dense and heavy wood, so a solid bubinga body would be a backbreaker. Quote
fryovanni Posted June 15, 2006 Report Posted June 15, 2006 It is a great wood. Very much like a mellow Rosewood. It is a very accepted neck and body wood for bass guitars. It most certainly could be used for guitar necks. Guitar bodies may become a bit heavy, but you could surely treat it as any other dense body (some chambering or thinner dimensions- or heck just make a heffer). Peace,Rich Quote
erikbojerik Posted June 15, 2006 Report Posted June 15, 2006 If I can find a piece similar to this one, it will be the top on my next bass (except with the sapwood down the middle). Quote
hooglebug Posted June 15, 2006 Report Posted June 15, 2006 i've made a whole guitar (minus the fingerboard) out of bubinga, and another with a bubinga neck. it's easy to work with and it smells GORGEOUS! the guitar made entirely from it is pretty heavy but its not too bad Quote
Matt Posted June 16, 2006 Author Report Posted June 16, 2006 cheers guys I might go and pick-up a piece over the weekend. Matt Quote
