leeranya
this is my first build, I started it about a month ago but I never got to work on it much mahogany body, maple neck, 24 jumbo frets, string through body with tuneomatic bridge, two humbuckers - a dimarzio evolution in the bridge and probably dimarzio breed in the neck this is the body wood I got before I started working on it: body wood this is how it looks like now: front view string through back ferrules - ignore the sketch next to it I'm not going to cut by that one top ferrules another view planned headstock design: I made the pickup cavities by drilling some holes and then chopping parts out with a sculpting tool... I don't have a router I can use... I want to finish the guitar with a burst like this one comments would be nice Edited July 30, 2006 by leeranya
yahilltrade
im sorry to say but i would have bought some tools first before actually trying to build a guitar. mabye buy some tools and start over because its going to be quite hard to smooth out all those drilled edges without taking to much wood out and therefore making the dimention incorrect. leeranya
I actually think I can manage without all those power tools... it's only my first guitar so I don't really want to invest in professional tools for now... anyway, I made an illustration of the guitar: one with a matching headstock, one just black which one's nicer? yahilltrade
the body style reminds me of a soloist meets one of those crappy drive guitars lmao. but hey...first build. and i sat the second one...if you can pull it off
al heeley
Plain headstock looks better imo, but the guitar horns are a terrible error! Please reconsider. They are so ugly, the beautiful lines of the guitar are ruined and they will snap off if you are not careful.
leeranya
ok ok... you're right... the horns gotta go. so right now it's a soloist/RG style body
Calum_Barrow
Those horns remind me of a Burns Bison And I really like the way your logo runs off the edges of the headstock; it certainly stands out.
Lord-of-the-strings
For some reason, the neck looks way to long for that body... :S
Mickguard
For some reason, the neck looks way to long for that body... :S I get the feeling it's the bridge that isn't placed properly?
leeranya
hey everyone just an update on the project: http://fx7.phpwebhosting.com/lee/guitar/008.JPG http://fx7.phpwebhosting.com/lee/guitar/009.JPG http://fx7.phpwebhosting.com/lee/guitar/010.JPG all cavities made with some drilling and then using a hammer and a chisel PICTURES TOO BIG, PLEASE RESIZE OR LEAVE AS LINKS Edited August 27, 2006 by Maiden69
Logical Frank
I actually like the top horn but the bottom one did look a little funny. I like the plain headstock a lot better as well. The bursted one is too busy. Looks really nice, I like the positioning of ferrules.
Lord-of-the-strings
Much better design. But are you going to leave the cavities like that... ? that looks so unprofessional like that, smooth them out.
Desopolis
im glad you changed the horn design.. if your worried about cost, go to meards or whatevers arround you, buy the drill attachment ($14.00) and a sanding tooltip.. nice cheap way to get a table top dremel.
