TeiscosRock
I love Franken-guitars, so this one's a winner in my book. I like it!
Maurits
That is a seriously cool looking bass, the only letdown in my eyes is the headstock. Reminds me of my own Frankenbass. -found on someones attic (always good) -Late 60's/early 70's Japanese Condor P-bass -(crudely) added J-bass pickup -defretted http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y284/Maur...or/DSCF1315.jpg http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y284/Maur...or/DSCF1317.jpg http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y284/Maur...or/DSCF1320.jpg BTW. Have you got standard wiring or something special in there?
DanielM
that darn jazz pickup killed my dremel! never rout for pups with a dremel folks. all that aside that Frankenbass ItalianROb is neat, always a fan of j-basses
Maurits
Heh, your Dremel asked for it, don't blame it on that poor pickup. Edited August 12, 2006 by Maurits
theitalianrob
maurits, ur bass looks pretty cool but whats up with that input? anyways, yeah, just standard wiring, 2 volume one tone.
Maurits
Apparantly before I got it the previous owner took out the input, but instead of just screwing it out he decided to saw off part of the pickguard. And me being cheap I just shaped a piece of plastic, covered it in leather and put it on there.
WezV
I have seen a few P-basses with that part smashed in because of the jack getting bashed or pulled while its plugged in. On some of the cheaper ones i have just sawn that section of and replaced with a small peice of new scratchplate and it looks quite like what you have there
marksound
wood: unknow but really heavy body from early 60's Five bucks says that's plywood. See how the dark band of the burst is wider at the armrest? All the best plywood guitars have that. Seriously, they do that so you don't see the layers in the contour. The tummy cut on the back is the same way, right?
Maurits
Mine is plywood.
