So, uh...

If I got two singlecoils, sat them next to each other (humbucker style), and wired/adjusted the magnets correctly, would that effectively land me with a humbucker of sorts? Or am I missing a step?

The reason I ask is this (and maybe somebody could help me a bit): I basically want a bridge humbucker that would sound relatively "Gibson-ish," but then I could select just one coil and get a Telecaster sound.

Meh.

Probably is too much of a stretch, but I figured I'd ask.

Thanks!

Hang on here a second,

A Humbucker isn't two pickups in series, out of phase.

One pickup is reverse wound, reversed magnetic polarity, they are wired in series, forward phase.

I believe on new Strats that the middle pickup is RWRP.

You're right up to a point. It's flipping the magnets that puts it back in phase.

Since he's starting with two single coils, the first step is to wire them in series, out-of-phase. The flipping the magnets on the out-of-phase pickup puts it back in-phase.

Hope that makes more sense. :D
