Aharon Posted August 19, 2006 Report Posted August 19, 2006 I have a gooffy question (I'm going to install a tele bridge).................when you measure the neck to find out the scale, you measure from the nut to the 12th fret wire or to the middle of the actual wood between frets to find the mid point?. Thanks a million Quote
low end fuzz Posted August 19, 2006 Report Posted August 19, 2006 end of the 12th fret; technically the highest point of the fret, because thats where your string stops vibrating, which acts like the nut, that makes it exactly half scale, which is also how you intonate; end of the 12th fret Quote
Aharon Posted September 17, 2006 Author Report Posted September 17, 2006 Ok,time to actually install the bridge (Tele). How do I set the bridge saddles........half way on the intonation screw and then measure the distance to there or is there another way. Thanks for any help. Aharon Quote
Drak Posted September 17, 2006 Report Posted September 17, 2006 Move your high E string saddle about 80% forward travel, leave a little extra, but not much. That saddle should meet your 25 1/2" scale marker, set your bridge so that saddle moved forward like that sits right on top of your scale line. I also use a 4' square placed down the centerline of the guitar and bump the bridge up against it to make sure the bridge is -perfectly- squared and aligned before I mark and drill bridge and string-thru holes.
