ESPexplorer Posted January 14, 2007 Report Posted January 14, 2007 (edited) Hi, I was bought a saga guitar kit for christmas, and finally got round to painting it this weekend anyway, i'm recreating the finish on the latest james hetfield signature model Truckster The first 3 colours went on fine, But when I put the final coat on (Primer grey), it dried with cracks in it, Is this because I forgot to sand the previous coat? And how hard will this be to rectify? Edited January 14, 2007 by Maiden69 Quote
Maiden69 Posted January 14, 2007 Report Posted January 14, 2007 Primer dries very fast, and the cracks are because the paint in the bottom were not completely cured. Sand it down if you can without damagind the lower coats and use the same type of paint as all the other colors! Quote
ESPexplorer Posted January 14, 2007 Author Report Posted January 14, 2007 Ahhhh ok thanks, So get a Grey colour intended as a top coat? Quote
Maiden69 Posted January 15, 2007 Report Posted January 15, 2007 Not necessary "intended" but the same type as the other paints! Quote
ESPexplorer Posted January 15, 2007 Author Report Posted January 15, 2007 Not necessary "intended" but the same type as the other paints! Yeah, I bought it today, Same make and type of paint as the others, So ill rub down the crappy top coat tomorrow at try again Im hoping this will also make it look slightly patchy, Adding to the worn and torn feel of the guitar Quote
