What is the proper depth for a humbucker pocket? What is the depth of the controls pocket if the guitar is to be 1 3/4'' thick? Thank you! Denis Posted March 28, 2007 Report Share Posted March 28, 2007 Stephan, I am a newbie too. My humbuckers measure 22mm deep - I made my pockets 25 to be safe. The controls pocket depends on what you want to put in there. I am routing the back of mine, and the key measurement for me is the thickness of wood left, as this needs to be less that the length of the screw section of the pot and switch shafts.
