Voodoods Posted September 10, 2007 Report Posted September 10, 2007 I am trying to pick a really cheap travel guitar (I'm on the road alot for my job and hate the idea of the airlines destroying anything better) so I am looking at these: http://www.jayturser.com/jt-300-qmt.php I like it except I am really looking for a an HSS setup... Is it fairly simple to rout the bridge out and replace the pickguard and bridge pup? Even though its going to be a cheapy, I want to try not to butcher it. Maybe it would be best to just drop a mini-bucker in there.... decisions decisions. Any insight would be appreciated. Quote

It's relatively simple, assuming you have access to a plunge router or a dremel tool with a routing base, and some experience with them. Replacement H-S-S pickguards are readily available from a number of sources. And, you might just be lucky: Many Strat style bodies are factory routed for humbuckers already !!! Quote

CrazyManAndy Posted September 10, 2007 Report Posted September 10, 2007 (edited) If you don't have a router, a drill and chisels would work in lieu, or you could put in a single coil sized humbucker if you don't want to mess with it. CMA Edited September 10, 2007 by CrazyManAndy Quote
