Mr Punch
This may seem like a stupid question? I have a 'Gretsch' style (hollow body) guitar (bought as a ready to paint kit - next time I WILL be building from scratch)! The pick up holes and tone/volume holes have been drilled. Before I start the sealing/painting/clear process, I want to make sure everything fits, (I really don't want to start drilling holes after I have painted it). Now, my question is with regards to the bridge, is there a way to work out the correct position of it? (I know it has to be central, just not certain about distance between say the pick up and the bigsby)? Hope someone can help? Cheers. Acousticraft
Measure from the front edge of the nut to the twelfth fret and double that. That will give you your scale length. What sort of bridge does it have, Floating or fixed? Then you will need around 5-7mm extra for compensation on the low E string.
Mr Punch
Thanks for the advice. It came with a floating bridge but thinking of using a roller bridge? Cheers. Mark
