Kluge
I assume to remove speed knobs, you have to have a flat tool to loosen the nut underneath them. Is this correct or is there another method? Thank you.
G_urr_A
Even though I haven't seen a speed knob in my life, I don't think the nut you're talking about has got anything to do with the knob. Id say you put some cloth or something (that won't damage the guitar's finnish) under the knob, and pull straight out from the body. The nut you mentioned is probably one of the adjustment nuts for the pot.
want2design
The speed knobs are common on Les Paul style guitars. In my experience, I find that all Les Paul control knobs are extremely hard to pull off.
butnut
They pry off. Try with your fingers first. Some wrap some cloth under it and pull...the knobs will go sailing...some have used a spoon on top of some padding to protect the finish. There's even a tool sold for this, like a mini crowbar. Just be careful and they'll come off. The nut holds the pot to the body.
weezerboy
wrap an old string around it and maybe used a small bit of cloth to protect the knob (and your hands) and twist and pull dan

Devon Headen
I haven't had much experience with LP knobs (just my one guitar), but with mine the knobs pulled right off...I had to take 'em off cause the numbers were like off my 3. I'm guessing they'll come off when I change the pots too :rolleyes
