godzilla Posted April 13, 2008 Report Posted April 13, 2008 Hello all, I have one build behind me that turned out pretty nice. I used TransTint amber dye in denatured alcohol to color the wood, it was pretty yellow and I sanded it back to achieve the color I was looking for. Now I want to know if I can add the dye to the lacquer or polly. I am trying to achieve a deep transparent colored finish. any help or information is greatly appreciated. Steve Quote
soapbarstrat Posted April 13, 2008 Report Posted April 13, 2008 Yes, it usually, if not always, works fine for mixing right in with poly or lacquer. Experiment with your particular brand of poly or lacquer to make sure. Yeah, the amber I have seems pretty damn yellow too. I sometimes wonder if they put the wrong label on the bottle. Maybe they should change the name from 'amber' to 'rotten lemon' or something like that. Quote
