root Posted April 29, 2008 Report Posted April 29, 2008 Hello All, My name is Matthew, I'm from South Wales in the UK, been playing guitar for some years now, and always fancied building my own. So I got Melvyn Hiscock's book (Make you won electric guitar), and I'm going to have a go. I have access to a decent wood workshop and a good background in electronics. So, I'll let you know how I get on. thanks Matthew Quote
joshvegas Posted April 29, 2008 Report Posted April 29, 2008 Bonjourno! Welcome. Wrong forum but we can't be perfect all of the time! Well done buying the book! Quote
Bryan316 Posted April 29, 2008 Report Posted April 29, 2008 I'm a n00b here myself, just signed on this morning. Been lurking for a couple weeks, after getting linked over here through Perry's custom guitar build videos. Got a bass I've built as a prototype, and getting ready to start the real deal. Got a white ash single piece board for the body that pings wonderfully when you tap it with a screwdriver. Ordered a maple neck with ebony board and SS frets, and blank headstock, from Carvin. Got a quilted maple 1/4" top. Gonna do a set-neck with the top covering the neck wood up into the pickup pocket. It'll be my first topped build, so I'm doing my research on anchoring and clamping the top for the gluing. Quote
