Dave Jones
Hi everyone, I'm new to the group, and have no guitar repair knowledge. I recently bought a Westfield Les Paul copy very cheaply because it has a slight bow in the neck (I think this is the correct term, I mean that even with the truss rod slackened right off the neck is slightly curved the wrong way). I have been told that it might be possible to correct this by fitting 6 A strings, tuning them to A, and storing the guitar somewhere the the temperature varies (e.g. the linen cupboard where the central heating boiler goes on and off) for say 2 weeks. Does this sound like it might work, or is there somthing else I could try that doesn't require any special skills ? Thanks for any help Dave Jones (London)
Brian
Actually thats pretty close to what a luthier would do, just not as fast. Most guitar tech's will brace the neck down into the position they want it in and steam it. May take a few shot's but your right about on track
