kpcrash Posted July 20, 2008 Report Posted July 20, 2008 Ok... checked some prior posts before adding this one, didn't see anyone who had actually "done" it so here goes.... I just got a request for a left-handed strat (no big deal) with a PCB (printed circuit board) finish. Need some opinion here - tone is a MAJOR consideration - Epoxy over a real pcb (routing will be a b***h) or printed image? I am already leaning on real PCB so that I could snaz it up with a few leds (yes, I'm a geek) but if anyone has done one, please let me know how it turned out. Quote
six_stringer Posted July 21, 2008 Report Posted July 21, 2008 If tone is a major issue then you should probably go with a printed design instead of routing out so much wood for a real PC board. Unless you like really thick and heavy guitar bodies that is. Here is a link to a picture of a Tele with a board on it that I saw at Marty Bell's website. You have to scroll down a bit to find it. http://www.martybellfinishing.com/Gallery.html Jeff Quote
IWishICouldShred Posted July 21, 2008 Report Posted July 21, 2008 What if you were to do some acrylic pieces? Like... do a neck thru with semihollow acrylic wings, and load them up with PCB and LEDs and whatever else you want.... Quote

syxxstring Posted July 21, 2008 Report Posted July 21, 2008 I would find a cool looking PCB and laminate it on the top. It would take some industrial strength epoxy to hold it there. You could then use bar top epoxy to bury it if it still has components on it or leave it rough and clear it. Quote
