Legion Posted December 14, 2003 Report Posted December 14, 2003 Hi. I have finished now my fretboard. Only one thing is missing: Side dots. How can I do those marks? What material? I try to get some pictures here of my ESP Strat-style project! It's going to be f***ing heavy! Thanx! Quote
Scott Rosenberger Posted December 14, 2003 Report Posted December 14, 2003 Small drill bit and plastic rod, glue it in the hole and scrape flush. If you cant find plastic rod, I've heard of people using the spiral plastic coil used to hold together notebooks. Quote
Clavin Posted December 14, 2003 Report Posted December 14, 2003 Rescue pearl offers small side dots in almost every pearl available, in varying sizes from less than 1mm to over the size of fret dots. www.rescuepearl.com Drill just below the depth, and treat like inlay. Craig. Quote
DannoG Posted December 14, 2003 Report Posted December 14, 2003 Hobby shops carry brass and aluminum (insert Brit spelling here) rods the right size for very little. Check out the scratch-building model section. Quote
ryeisnotcool2 Posted December 15, 2003 Report Posted December 15, 2003 i use "brazing" rod for welders, you can get it at home depot for really cheap! it is a brass rod the is 3/32" they have other demensions also, its up to you. but i just snip off little peices drill the holes then push them in with a little ca glue. then i file them down after the glue dries, they look nice! you can get brass or aluminum so then you can have gold or silver side dots! oh and some brands have "flux" on them wich is white stuff, just scrape it off it kinda crumbles off really easy.
