tripwirecartel
Hi everyone, I've been looking to rewire my sg. Now it has a single coil in the neck with a volume control, and a humbucker in the bridge with a volume control, tone control, and seperate switch for coil splitting. Basically i just took out the neck's tone pot when i swapped out the pickups originally and used that spot for the humbucker's coil split switch. Kinda half-assed, but now i'm looking for a little more function with the same controls. So now i'm looking for a schematic that'll give me a seperate volume pot for each pickup, with a master tone and a master coil split switch. It's just the coil split switch that's the problem. Is it possible for both pickups to be split by the same switch? Thanks, any help would be great! I'm basically at a standstill now
Keegan
Only a humbucker can be split, but yes, two pickups can be split with the same switch if it's DPDT. http://www.seymourduncan.com/support/wirin...=coil_splitting http://www.guitarelectronics.com/category/...ckerwiringmods/ Edit: This is probably the closest full diagram to what you're doing, except that the humbucker would run to the coil split first: http://www.seymourduncan.com/support/wirin...c=1h1phat2v1t3w Edit 2: I'm really confused, are you using two humbuckers or a single coil in the neck with a volume control, and a humbucker in the bridge with a volume control, tone control, and seperate switch for coil splitting Edited November 30, 2008 by Keegan
tripwirecartel
crap i must've looked at that guitarelectronics.com page 10 times and i didnt see what i was looking for! it must be the "Humbuckers(2)/Outer Single Coils" that is what i need. Or is that to split them and then run those outer 2 coils together? i'm still pretty lost on this one. for exaple, this http://www.seymourduncan.com/support/wirin...tic=2h_2v_1t_3w is basically how i want it to be, except with both humbuckers also connected to one mini toggle that would split them both. but i don't know where to connect that in and i'm about to put in the 2 humbuckers. that seymour duncan diagram you suggested helps with the master tone, which is completely obvious. haha i'm an idiot
Keegan
Oh, so you are using 2 humbuckers, okay. Then your wiring is just like this: http://www.seymourduncan.com/support/wirin...=2h_2v_1t_3w_pp Except that instead of a push pull, you just have a swtich, turning the switch one way runs the red/whites to ground, turning it the other way does absolutely nothing(ie, leave it in humbucking) Does that help? tripwirecartel
oh ok, so then the switch isn't connected to anything but the red white, and ground. thanks a lot you really helped out! i think i should be good now
