Converting 22 Fret To 24 Fret Guitar

Recommended Posts

Specifically this,

ibanezdestroyerbody.jpg w400.png

With a 24 fret Ibanez neck.

I know, neck is AANJ, body is standard heel, I will mod the standard heel to fit a AANJ,

But the body?

I attached the neck to the pocket and 2 holes lined up, so right now, the neck fits exactly where the old neck was, but the new neck is 24 frets.

Should I fill the old bridge holes and match up the scale (leaving the pickup routes as is?

or

Should I just move the neck up/down using the pre-exisiting bridge holes (possible ending up with no neck pick up, but I don't mind)

Any help is welcomed.

I would fill in the bridge holes and re-drill to scale length to new neck and the paint the body. That being said you have to first see if you will have enough room to do so between the bridge holes that are there now and the pickup cavity. Thats if it needs to move inwards. as I suspect it would. my 2 cents.
