Nils Posted February 4, 2011 Report Posted February 4, 2011 Hi all, I'm part way through a solid body guitar build. (Loosely based on a Les Paul Junior, although the body shape is custom). My question is concerning the position of the bridge: I am fitting a hard tail bridge with the strings going through the body after going over the bridge. Is the angle which the bridge is fitted at important? I would have thought it would have been in terms of intonation, however I have seen different angles of various guitars. Perhaps there is an optimal angle? Thanks in advance for your help! Nils Quote
DC Ross Posted February 4, 2011 Report Posted February 4, 2011 Most Tune-o-matics are positioned so that the bass side is about 1/8" further back than the treble side. Fender-style hardtails have enough saddle travel that they don't require this compensation. Quote
