Hi all,

I'm part way through a solid body guitar build. (Loosely based on a Les Paul Junior, although the body shape is custom). My question is concerning the position of the bridge: I am fitting a hard tail bridge with the strings going through the body after going over the bridge. Is the angle which the bridge is fitted at important? I would have thought it would have been in terms of intonation, however I have seen different angles of various guitars. Perhaps there is an optimal angle?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Most Tune-o-matics are positioned so that the bass side is about 1/8" further back than the treble side. Fender-style hardtails have enough saddle travel that they don't require this compensation.
