You know how it gets.I agree with SDShirtman about buying from alternative and/or local makers if the option is there. Our very own RestorationAD was winding some fantastic pickups until he voluntarily retired from regular building. The 5-string '51 P-Bass pickups he made are out of this world even though I don't think he had a test donkey to gauge them on! I guess that makes ME the donkey....
