Crusader Posted July 2, 2023 Report Share Posted July 2, 2023 Hi everyone When I put my Strat together I found I only had one 250k pot. So I used a 500 in Tone. If I just turn it down a bit will that be exactly the same as having a 250k pot, or is there some weird science that will make it not quite the same? henrim Posted July 2, 2023 Report Share Posted July 2, 2023 On tone control a linear 500k potentiometer rolled half way is the same as a 250k pot (or if the pot is audio taper the spot is not in the middle but it’s there somewhere anyway). The volume pot doesn’t work the same way in the circuit and you can’t substitute a 250k volume pot with a 500k and expect the same tone volume rolled half way. 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
