GEdwardJones
yup i love it Whats a photoflame? ive heard the term but never knew what it was... I was told it was a real maple top by the shop Rich A semi-transparent sheet of plastic with a pattern similar to flame maple is put on a guitar, then painted over, similar to the fabric finish people do here. Since it's a picture of a flamed grain it's a "foto flame."
Rich
do they make foto flame for quilt maple too?? Guest AlexVDL
Not as nice as real quilted or flame woods. But if you want some pics just look at some Yamaha bass guitars, or the fernandes dragonfly models or Tokai les paul models (the one with model number under LS50). The most recent model is the OLP axis model which also has photoflame quilt. EDIT: could be fernandes use veneer now, as it's getting quite popular. I can't find the words "quilt graphic film" on the fernandes site anymore. But I see you have a sunburst around the body, maybe to hide the edge of the veneer. The older ones with grapic quilt film did't had sunbursts. Can't find it at the yamaha site anymore also... But I had several ones with photo quilt in the store I work. Well maybe they didn't last long

Guest AlexVDL
Well that's one of the main reason for figured tops. It's for the looks, so real or photo... it still looks awesome!
