ISUBARUI Posted April 20, 2004 Report Posted April 20, 2004 I am planning on building a few guitar and wanted to know if koa would be a strong enough wood making a neck. I plan on using a koa body and neck with a curly mahogany top with rio grande pickups. Will the koa be suttible for a zz top tone or would mahogany be much better? Quote
goth_fiend Posted April 20, 2004 Report Posted April 20, 2004 if i remember right, koa is very close to mahogany tone wise, and from what i know bc rich used to make custom shop guitars throughout the 70's and 80's out of solid koa for neckthrus. Quote
