john
i recently took my squier fat strat apart to have a look inside and begin installing my pieze transducers ., i studied the pickup wiring for a but then realised the humbucker actually has three wires coming from it , but one of them is snipped short(barely visible under the insulation) it is a red wire as far as i can remember. what is the wire for and why is it not used? thanks , john. guitar_ed
Howdy, I am not sure why the wire is cut, but you might check out the Seymour Duncan (www.seymourduncan.com) web site. Under support, they have a bunch of schematics for humbuckers, with various wiring configurations. You might something there. Good luck, Guitar Ed
Brian
Shortcut to the reference section Of course that's on the link page to many schematics, what your looking for may not be on there.....
john
its pretty strange that its cut! , i have owned the guitar from brand new (99) and have not had any work carried out on it by anyone else. could it be some kind of coil-tap feature?
