The pickup half closest to the neck has little rectangular metal pole pieces near the string, used to drive the string to create a positive feedback loop. The pickup half farther from the neck appears to be a dummy; there are no pole pieces visible. That is actually the sustainer pickup. I know I've seen these systems gutted and put on Ebay before when somebody was parting out a guitar.
