project I am working on

Recommended Posts

ask away, don't mind at all

I had two 3/4 pieces of panga panga that cut out in the shape of a guitar, then I routed out the inards until I had about 3/16 of wood left.

Then I glued the two pieces together and bam had a hollowed out guitar body.

Dave Remember the post on large clamps? This is how I made this guitar...

Think of a sandwich style guitar.

and yes the neck is off a bit. my templated slipped as I was routing, so I just finished it anyway, what would some of you had done?

That reminds me of the "innovation" on my first neck... The slightly-off-center truss rod.

That stinks that the template moved on you. You must have nearly vomited when that happened. I was bummed that my truss rod channel was off by 1/16". It's not enough to be a huge problem, but I was so ticked off that it didn't hit right dead center. I must have measured for 5 minutes before I routed too.

I'm not sure what I would have done to fix the neck pocket. If I were going to paint the guitar, I prolly would have filled the mistake and re-routed. But you have this nice wood. I'm not sure what you could have done. :D
