I used it on my black limba guitar and did not have any problems with the clear coat (nitro lacquer). It went on pretty easily and quickly. The only thing that's not so nice about it is the fumes. Other than that, it's great. At the time I did it, I was not aware that stewmac sold clear pore filler (and no one here seemed to be aware of it at the time either) - I probably would have tried that first.
