minideluxe Posted July 19, 2004 Report Posted July 19, 2004 The guitar of my dreams exists - on paper...... In the design phase of my guitar - a stratotype and have hit a small snag - or perhaps a solution. The neck joint - I dont want it to be a big bulky thing but I am not panicky about it. But anyway the area I have drawn out is a tad smaller than the typical fender neck joint. Now to increase contact area I have invisioned initally not routing the joint flat, but leaving a central spine, say 10mm or so both high and wide running north/south down the pocket, with a corresponding slot on the neck - sort of a finger-joint type of thing Then I thought - a slight dovetail in profile will increase this moreso. Is this more trouble than it's worth or a good idea???? Quote
Primal Posted July 20, 2004 Report Posted July 20, 2004 Sounds like a pretty cool idea. Whether it will be worth it, I dunno. I would be interested in hearing more about it if you try it though. Quote
Devon Headen Posted July 20, 2004 Report Posted July 20, 2004 sounds very interesting, but it sounds like a lot of work, too. If you do try it, like Primal said, definitely keep us informed. Quote
