Hot rod truss rod

Hi,

Finally I am about to route the trench for a " Stewmac Hot Rod" truss rod which will have the adjustment at the body end under the PU.

Should I make the length of the cut exactly the same as the length of the truss rod blocks so it cant move back and forwards in the trench or should I give it a bit of clearance ?

Should I bring the adjusting screw (hex screw) out beyond the end of the neck into the body or leave it flush with the end of the neck?
