  1. Yeah, and I keep telling GE to buy two. One for him to check out and the other as a friendship present to me. But the last time I bought somebody a guitar I married her two years later. So, I don't think that's an option. Point. LOL I'll be buying one of these when I get my tuition reimbursement money in June. The reviews are incredible on 'em!!! ~d~

The models that Guitar Trader has on sale are the 2002 models, with the TRS. This is NOT a death blow, no matter what the naysayers think.

Yeah, the RGT42 is a great looking guitar. I'm in love with the binding. I'm sure you'll really dig it, especially at the closeout price - I've seen them as low as $300 brand new. What color did you order it in? ~d~

    What the???

A buddy of mine made a guitar in High School with a laminate body like that one. It sustained for DAYS because it was so heavy. He called it his cutting board. Mass contributes to sustain, not necessarily wood. Resonance? Yeah, I can see where there *may* be an issue with resonance, but keep in mind - if you're planning on putting a Floyd on this body, you're removing an enormous amount of the body, as well as limiting the strings' contact with the body. That will have more of an effect on resonance than the glue in the body. Tone? IMO in an electric guitar the pickups contribute more to tone than the wood itself. Take for instance basswood, which is crap wood as far as guitar making goes. We don't care because with a great set of pickups you don't even notice... I wouldn't buy that body myself, but I don't think it's necessarily crap. I just have my eyes set on a certain amber flamed baby at Rondo. ~d~

One word: Flextone. LOL Or, you could try running a floor mount processor through the effect loop of your Marshall. I used to run a Digitech into my Marshall for the longest time, until I started to want more *amp* variety, which is why I chose the Flextone. ~d~

    What the???

I don't see why not. Reminds me of one of the old BC Rich neckthroughs with the 5 piece neck and the added on wings...
  7. I believe the pros will use a bit of CA (SuperGlue) to hold the frets in during a refret. This isn't usually necessary on a new board because the fret slots are cut to allow a tight fit. When the old frets are removed, the slot gets widened, and the new frets won't stay put firmly. ~d~

  9. Oh, *that* is good news. GE and I have been drooling over that amber flame 2500 for at least a year, but I've been kinda gun-shy since I can't give em a test run. It's great to hear there hasn't been any complaints, I'm dying for one. At $250, a new set of pickups is easily affordable. Sad thing is, to get PAFs from Gibson would cost almost as much as the guitar!!! I love the blue quilt as well. It just doesn't get me like the amber flame does. YUM. ~d~
  10. ...muuuuust........haaaave..... ~d~
  11. It can be done, in fact Herc does his inlay work that way. It's not the best way to do an inlay however, makes it very difficult to get the fretboard level... ~d~
  12. Which is why I don't watch those shows. LOL Nah, just the apostophe usage, which seems rampant here. It just makes it difficult for me to read the forum, and that's the whole point of coming here. Hugs, ~d~ P.S. "grammar"
  13. "Inlays and Frets" Apostrophes are not ever used to indicate pluralism. Apostrophes show possession or contraction, but never "more than one." Just a little pet peeve. Peace. ~d~
  14. Dennis wants to know what one of those would cost him... That is seriously gorgeous.
  15. I do, I admit it. Anyway, I've a had a few emails from forum users about these trems. If yours is broken, good luck. They're made of the world's cheapest pot metal (not brass like Kahlers were) and if a structural part breaks you're f***ed. Kahlers will not fit without major modification to your guitar, due to the totally different rout. Nearly every guitar maunfacturer put these on their low end guitars in the mid to late '80s. Search on eBay for your cheepie brand of choice: Dean, Hohner, Washburn, Ovation, Aria, ESP, et al. Good luck! ~d~
  16. Hate to tell you I told you so, but...
  17. Nope, sorry. I can't remember if the bar is threaded or push-in. If it's threaded, I'd try a metric bar from allparts. Also, the allen key in the front of the bridge adjusts your spring tension. It's a cool design, too bad it doesn't work. LOL ~d~
  18. God, I haven't seen one of those in 10 years. Ugh. Those were Kahler knockoffs from the late '80s. there is no cam, like a Kahler. They balance on pivots on the front left and right sides of the middle "floating" part. They have terrible tuning stability. I'd tell you to chuck it and get a real Kahler, but unfortunately, the routs are completely different. There are a few cool features of these though. The bar goes in the holes on either side of the saddle, so the trems are left- or right-handed. The allen key on the very back edge of the "floating" part allows you to lock the bridge into a non-floating position. Peace ~d~
  19. Both of these are still available. Drop me a note if you're interested. Brian, thanks. I've been lurking here for several months. G - I told you not to say that. ~d~
  20. Hi all! I have two Strat style 12 string necks for sale at $80 each plus shipping. Both are 21 frets, one has a maple board and the other is rosewood. I bought 'em for a pair of double necks I now realize are never going to happen... Pics available upon request at dcord777@hotmail.com Thanks for looking! ~d~
