every guitar i have oned, even trem equipped strat, i always took all the strings off, cleaned the fret board good and then strung up with new strings, i never had a tuning problem what so ever...

A Les Paul has 4 knobs al together, 2 volume, 2 tone, the first volume and tone are used with the switch in the Treble poistion, the second volume and tone are used in the Rhythm postion

I use boomers on almost everything i own, i tried a set of d'addarios, they were ok, but i find i get a heavier sound out of the GHS's

You can actually buy a spray on textured paint, i will be using it on some non guitar related projects so i will let you know how it turns out

There are lots of spray on, textured paints that are real cool, and really easy to work with, heres a few ideas on what to look for:

Make it Stone! (a paint that when applied correctly makes the object look like stone, works pretty good, kinda runny though...)

Tremclad (??) Textured Paint (i think its Tremclad, not quite sure) I used this once, and i had mediocre resaults (spelling?) other then that, i cant complain for a 10 dollar can of spray paint

cherry has almost similar tonal properties to maple, i made a guitar out of black cherry, a RRV, the sound was OK, but mind you, i botched my scale length, so it wasnt right at all.

i second that, when i was thinking of building a guitar a few years ago, i took a pad of paper, a pencil and a tailors tape, and played a few guitars, mesured the waist, horns, butt, that kinda stuff, wrote it all down, sometimes i would do a little sketch of the stuff and go from there....

i love it, if it had a darker fingerboard, but not ebony dark, it would be a perfect axe for me, what kinda trem is that? the pictures arent that great, so its hard to tell

drill the hole slightly larger in diameter, get a peice of dowel that fits snug (like, REALLY snug) and glue it in there really, i mean REALLY good, let it sit for a few hours (or 24) then, do a pilot hole and screw on your schaller strap lock

When you say 'thin' do you mean 'narrow' as it's 16mm thick, which is about right - well from what i've read anyway ;-)

Yes, i mean narrow, i would mock up with tuners like suggested, you might have to cut, joint, and give that headstock some fatness to it!!

basswood, cherry, maple, ash, mahogany, all that stuff is good if you can get it at your school....

Even those cheapy strap locks you can get for like 2 bucks work pretty good

Cheapy strap lock up there ^^^ but it dont let the strap come off at all!!

i like the design, the headstock could use a bit of a diet, little too wide for my liking, but its your guitar!!

you shouldnt have to use oak dowel inserts to make it stronger, it looks like you have a pretty good line there already (no gaps) just use a good amount of glue and LOTS of clamps and let her dry for a good period of time and boom, your set with a body

there is a curvature on the neck, when you sand off part of then pain, so, only part of the nect, your changing the curvature, or the radius

Hahahaha, I mean that, the neck was painted ALL black, and that dind't look good, so I sanded the fretboard into black Sharkfins, basically, just took somt of the paint off.

so, you basicly sanded all the paint off except for those shark fins, so, the radius is really far out now?
